About Tamraght
Why should you visit Tamraght on your surf trip? If you are looking to get away from the crowds, experience authentic Moroccan culture, and still find some good surf spots, Tamraght is the place to be. Unlike the more touristy Taghazout, Tamraght has not lost its charm as a small fishing village. With many local restaurants, shops to buy authentic souvenirs and two impressive mosques, Tamraght can’t be missed on your surf trip to Morocco. As Tamraght is not yet discovered by most tourists, you will find the prices in the restaurants and shops to be lower as well.

As Taghazout is considered the surf capital of Morocco, hundreds of tourists travel to the coastline of Taghazout and Agadir each season. However, the smaller village of Tamraght (located in the middle between Agadir and Taghazout) is often overlooked.
Although it is smaller than Taghazout, Tamraght also holds various popular surf spots with excellent waves for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers. We have listed some of our favorites below.
The KMs consist of KM11 and KM12, referring to the distance between the spots and Agadir city. The KMs are the only surf spots with left hands. During good days at KM11, you will get a strip take-off with a little barrel section on a reef to end up with a long open section on the beach. KM12 is a reef break that breaks as an A-frame with a perfect left and short right. KM12 can hold a decent size swell and is more consistent than KM11, but KM11 typically produces better barrels than KM12.
Located nearby the Devil’s Rock surf spot, Banana Beach is a long right-hander point that works in small and medium conditions. During big swell times, this spot creates a very strong current. It’s one of the spots that produces waves and clean long right hand.
Devil’s Rock is the closest beach break to Banana Beach and the closest to the village of Tamraght. Devil’s Rock is a beach break with a sand bottom where the majority of surf lessons take place. It can get very crowded in the afternoons. Devil’s Rock is a beach break that produces waves for all levels, which makes it one of the best spots for surf teaching. In addition, this surf spot works in all tides, with perfect waves for beginner and intermediate surfers.
