Can you Surf in Morocco?

So the short answer to the question if you can surf in Morocco is definitely yes! The entire coastline of Morocco is ideal for surfing, but especially the area around Taghazout. And the great thing about surfing in Morocco is that you can surf there in autumn, winter and spring. At this time, you do need to wear a wetsuit, due to the cold water of the atlantic ocean. Do you want to know more about the best time to surf in Morocco? We got you for this as well!

About us

Where to Surf in Morocco?

If you ask a surfer anywhere in Morocco about the best place to surf in Morocco, there is a good chance they will refer you to Taghazout, the surfing capital of Morocco. The peaceful region, with beautiful clear water and various kinds of nature, offers many attractive spots for surfers at beginner, intermediate and advanced level. This makes Taghazout a very popular spot for surfers all around the world. Other popular surf spots are Ifni, a fairly exposed beach and reef break that has consistent surf, and Imsouane, as its sandbanks and its long, continuously breaking righthand wave make it a good option for beginners.

Are you looking to get away from the tourists and experience local Moroccan culture, while still staying within walking distance from the sea? Our surf hostel is located in Tamawanza, offering a great view of the region of Taghazout – including the best surf spots in Taghazout and Tamraght!

Both the popular surf spot Taghazout and the smaller, quieter town of Tamraght offer various good surf spots. Check out our favorite spots for surfing in Tamraght and Taghazout!
